Welcome to Our Field | 2025 Workshops at Green Willow Gardens

A look back at a season of on farm gatherings

This year was our first season in the new field, and with it came three workshops spread throughout the growing season. Each one was special in its own way, drawing people with different interests. What they all shared was a common purpose. Slowing things down. Letting people step into the field, take a breath, and experience flowers where they are actually grown. Dirt underfoot. Birds overhead. Stems still warm from the sun.

Our workshops are intentionally simple. They are not rushed. They are not loud. They are meant to feel like a pause in the middle of a busy season.

Our first workshop took place in July, while the field was still finding its stride. We welcomed fellow flower farmers, gardeners, and photographers for a creative lesson in photography. Professional photographer Rachel of Rachel Evelyn Photography led the group through simple ways to improve photography skills, focusing on using natural light to capture both the landscape and the blooms. She also shared easy, approachable ideas for adding a personal presence to branding and social media. It felt relaxed and thoughtful, exactly how we hoped it would.

In late August, we hosted Eleven Eleven Yoga for a yoga class followed by a flower bar. The skies were perfect, and the timing allowed everyone to truly slow down and settle into the space. This one was especially meaningful for me because I was able to participate too, experiencing the field in a completely different way. After class, everyone created their own arrangement, choosing flowers from the flower bar and cutting dahlias straight from the field.

We closed out the season with a flower design workshop led by Holly of Holly Berry Flowers. Holly is a talented florist, and it was a joy to welcome her into the field. Using seasonal flowers grown right here, she walked through basic design principles before letting everyone create something of their own. There was no pressure to make it perfect. Just flowers, clippers, and time. Workshops like this tend to spark a deeper appreciation for local flowers, as people see firsthand how much thought and care goes into every stem.

If you have attended one of our workshops or are thinking about joining a future event, know that they are created with intention and care. You do not need experience. You do not need to know flowers. You just need curiosity and a willingness to slow down.

We will continue to host a small number of thoughtfully planned workshops each season, shaped by what is blooming and what feels right at the time. No two are ever exactly the same, and that is part of the magic.

If you would like to be part of one in the future, keep an eye on our seasonal offerings. We would love to welcome you into the field!
