Workshop Recap: Designing with Dahlias at Green Willow Gardens

There’s something special about sharing the field at its peak, and our Designing with Dahlias workshop was one of those evenings that reminds me why I love what I do. It was such a joy to work alongside Holly from Holly Berry Flowers to bring this event to life. The day before the workshop, we cut flowers together right in the field so every stem was as fresh as possible for our guests. Buckets of color lined the tables with dahlias, zinnias, snapdragons, and more, all grown here at Green Willow Gardens.

Everyone was welcomed with snacks from a few of our favorite local businesses including charcuterie cups from Do Something Co. and cakesicles from Wild Flour Co. I love collaborating with other small businesses for events like this. It is such a fun way to highlight the talent we have right here in our community.

After a little mingling and a walk through the rows, Holly led us through creating flower filled centerpieces. Each guest used chicken wire mechanics, a sustainable choice we love, and chose their own color palette as they designed. Some leaned toward soft, romantic tones while others went bold and bright. Every arrangement reflected the person creating it, which is always my favorite part to see.

The weather could not have been better, and by the end of the night the tables were covered in stunning centerpieces and smiling faces. We met new friends, caught up with familiar ones, and enjoyed the kind of evening that makes the hard work of farming all season long completely worth it.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, to Holly for sharing her talent, and to the local businesses who made the evening even sweeter. These gatherings are such a reminder of the beauty that comes from growing, creating, and connecting, all in one flower filled place.
