We have undergone a name change, effective June 1, 2003. We loved our old name, but the California State License Board ruled that we could not use the word “Door” in our name if we wanted a Contractor’s License. Well, we could have become Carpenters or Door Installers and kept it, but since we know a lot more about plants than pilasters, we came up with Green Willow. We hope you like it. It’s grown on us. Willow is a beautiful, tenacious, and flexible plant with multiple uses. In our practice, we hope to emulate these wonderful qualities. Over the years, we
have evolved and grown, but we remain a small company dedicated to quality
design, installation, and maintenance of residential gardens, with an emphasis on planting. We also design complete residential gardens for installation by licensed landscape contractors, often teaming up for the planting installation and maintenance. For more information about Maureen, and horticulturists Julia Könye, Belinda Florio, and Matt Whittington, please scroll to the bottom of this page. Though we are committed through late fall of 2009 for new garden design and planting projects, we offer a limited number of hourly garden consultations each month. The minimum for garden consultations is two hours, at the rate of $125 per hour. Please email maureen@greenwillowgardens.com, or call 510-778-4715 to inquire about our availability for consultation. PEOPLE Maureen
Decombe:
maureen@greenwillowgardens.com (resume) The Palo Alto Weekly has featured Maureen
Decombe in an article
in the Home and Garden section. A version with images is also available in PDF. Matt Whittington:
matt@greenwillowgardens.com
Matt's years spent managing large commerciallandscapes exposed him to just about every irrigation clock known to humankind. He has not honed down those decades of experience into managing the irrigation systems in all of our gardens. His practical approach to garden care has allowed us to expand our services to include ecological maintenance of turf. Matt is in the process of converting many of our gardens to water-efficient ET controllers. If you must have turf, you must have an ET controller. When not in the garden, Matt can usually be found near any large body of water, particularly if there are pedipods involved. Matt is a docent at Ano Nuevo State Park and an avid competitive team rower. Belinda Florio:
belinda@greenwillowgardens.com
Since joining the GWG team in 2007, Belinda has wowed everyone with her commitment to quality and detail applied to a wide array of fine gardening tasks, all the while carefully maintaining custom maintenance records for our gardens. Belinda has recently made the foray into designing and installing creative plantings, concentrating particularly on exciting container displays with dramatic plant combinations. Belinda is pursuing an AS in Horticulture from Foothill College. |
